Which breakfast jock tattooed the wrong girl’s name on his bum?

Breakfast in Wide Bay

Lachlan Cosgrove made headlines in 2012 in what the media dubbed “Tattoo-gate”.

He was a contestant on series three of Beauty and the Geek and was in the midst of a budding relationship with beauty Jordan Finlayson but tattooed his teammate Sarah’s name on his backside.

Awkward.

Now Lachy is one half of the morning crew on Sea FM’s Wide Bay alongside Kristian McKenna. Wide Bay takes in Maryborough, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg Qld.

Mak and Lachy have been on-air together since August 2014 and Lachy’s TV appearance is both a source of frustration and admiration for Mak.

“He was on ‘Beauty & the Geek. He scored with a hot chick …”

The boys aren’t actually in the studio together though so Mak can contain his jealousy.

“Our show is somewhat unique in that we broadcast from separate studios via ISDN. It has had its challenges, but if in doubt we just think WWMSD (what would Marty Sheargold do). Definitely been an interesting first gig to have, and a big learning curve,” says Lachy.

And like any geek (apologies for stereotyping) Mak’s relaxed approach when it comes to the timing of live reads and interviews compromises Lachy’s attention to detail (yet by all accounts he let that slip with tattoo-gate!).

“I’m a little anal retentive and love a good schedule, but somehow they always get done.”

So from reality star to radio announcer. However, if you could have any job in the world what would it be?

“I wouldn’t mind Graham Norton’s job… but the name of his show probably wouldn’t make much sense.”

As for Mak.

“Regional Breakfast Announcer that gets paid like a regional McDonalds Manager.”

And Mak if you could tattoo a song lyric on Lachy’s leg (let’s leave backsides out of it) what would you choose?

“I’d have to pick an amazing lyrical piece of work like ‘The Weekend’s, The Hills.’

“Keep on tryna hide it but your friends know.” Or the outro “Ewedihalehu Yene konjo, ewedihalehu Yene fikir, fikir, fikir, fikir Yene fikir, fikir, fikir, fikir.”

Meanwhile Lachy looks to Katy Perry for inspiration.

“Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
, drifting through the wind, wanting to start again? ’cause, baby, you’re a firework”.
