Vale Terry Kerr

Terry Kerr, the co-founder of Power FM Towoomba has passed away.

Terry got his break in radio in 1971 with a job at 4LG in Longreach from there, it was on to 4AY4TO in Townsville and  2GO in Gosford.

From 2GO it was back to Queensland and a stint at 4GR Drive as “TK”, then taking over from Mike A’Hearn on 4BC breakfast radio.

Terry returned to 4GR , where in 1984 he won a Pater Award for best regional programme. His next stop was 4AK where he took the night shift to number one in the rating survey’s. This achievement led him to do breakfast radio in Brisbane at STEREO 10 (formerly 4IP) where he was part of the STEREO 10 Morning Zoo.

When STEREO 10 changed its format to “Light and Easy”  Terry decided it was time to move back to breakfast radio at 4AK with the award winning program TK and the Morning Crew featuring, Terry, Geoff Roberts and Ray Kirby.

Finally, after leaving 4AK as their longest ever serving breakfast radio announcer, Terry was asked by his long time friend and associate Geoff Roberts to join him in starting The Power FM Group.

RIP Terry Kerr.
