Vale Owen Delaney

Respected broadcaster Owen Delaney has died of pancreatic Cancer. He was most well known for his talk mid-dawn program Australia Overnight on the Macquaire Network.

Delaney was born in Boorowa near Young. His first station was 2LF Young and long time friend and panel operator Geoffrey Wallace says he “quite often spoke to me of his first interview there……an up and coming talent by the name of Johnny Farnham.”

In the mid 70s he was on 2UE afternoons, then went to New Zealand to broaden his career.

Delaney returned from New Zealand to the Macquarie network during the News-Talk era in the 1980s, to host what was a ground breaking overnight talk program at the time called “Australia Overnight.”

In recent time he had been a regular fill-in presenter for 2UE presenters Alan Jones and John Laws. He was also one of the founders of 2- Double O Wollongong.
