Triple J working with Uni students

A new Triple J project called J Division will provide “a unique opportunity for final year journalism, media studies or communications students who want to work in radio”.

The project will also help the network achieve its aim of involving more young people on air from outside metropolitan areas.

The J Division coordinator is currently travelling to universities around Australia introducing the project to students and inviting applications.

Selected participants will spend three days with Triple J in Sydney, meeting the staff and learning about the station and the requirements of the project. When they return to their universities they will compile 3-5 minute radio ‘packages’ for broadcast on Triple J — primarily for the Morning Program.

Their brief is to provide material that reflects local stories rather than stories on national or international topics. J Division will be part of the students’ assessable course work.
