Tim Palmer wins Gold Walkley at ABC dominated awards night

ABC reporter Tim Palmer has emerged as the big winner at The Walkley journalism awards, winning key radio and tv awards and the prized Gold Walkley for his coverage of the Boxing Day Tsunami and the Australian embassy bombing in Jakarta.

The ABC won a clean sweep of all radio and television categories in last night’s 50th anniversary awards for excellence in journalism, coming away with 14 Walkleys in total. The ceremony was held at Luna Park in Sydney.

ABC representatives also won awards for the best use of the medium, international journalism, investigative journalism and current affairs reporting.

ABC Radio’s Monica Attard won a broadcast interviewing excellence award for her Sunday Profile program and Australian Story executive producer Deb Fleming was honoured with a Walkley for most outstanding contribution to journalism.
