South Australian Community Stations survey

Over 225,000 people are now listening to South Australian community radio at any given time, according to South Australian Community
Broadcasters Association President Geoff Williams.

The figures are taken from a new audience survey conducted by Adelaide’s McGregor Tan Research, using the industry standard diary methodology. The survey was commissioned by
SACBA marketing’s Active Radio Network for all of its 24 member stations.

Key findings of the survey include a combined metropolitan listener share of 17.5% of the potential audience aged 10+, across ten radio stations.

Two of the “standout stations” were LIFE FM with 5.8% and COAST FM with 2.6% share.

“Outstanding results” were achieved by all regional stations, with Bordertown’s 5TCB and Coober Pedy’s DUSTY FM each boasting a 49% share of potential audience.

This is the first time that a diary survey has been commissioned by a Community Radio network in Australia and “shows significant strengthening of performance at every level,” said Geoff Williams.
