Frank Sinatra in Melbourne – another radioinfo exclusive for broadcast
professionals thanks to ScreenSound Australia www.screensound.gov.au, the National Screen and Sound
Archive.

As your listeners flock to see Dennis Hopper play Sinatra in the movie “The
Night We Called It A Day”
(opens Thursday 14th August) you can broadcast the
real thing!

Yes, the good people at ScreenSound have dug deep into the vaults to find
this rare recording of The Chairman of the Board himself getting stuck into
the Australian press on stage at Festival Hall, Melbourne back on July 10th,
1974.

What was it he said that so inflamed a nation that had him black-banned by
every union in the country and earned him the nick name “Cranky Franky”? The
effect was worse than David Hookes’ “hairy-back Sheila” comment. Future PM,
Bob Hawke had to be called in to mediate so that the shows could go on.

The whole 5 mins and 7 secs of Frank’s blasting is free…you
can edit to any length you choose (see below)…If you want a 33second version, have a look at Free Audio.
