Scott Mayman wins a surprise Media Award

Former 4BC News Director, Scott Mayman may have departed the station last November but he’s still picking up awards.

In fact, at the recent Gold Coast Media Awards, known as the MACCAS, Scott was presented with a special Above and Beyond Award for going “above and beyond” by helping the development of young up and coming journos.

During his four years at 4BC, Scott developed the Ready Reserve Program which guided 19 students to full-time employment.

Read Jose Auditore’s interview with Scott first published on radioinfo last November.

Here’s a transcript from the MACCAS awards dinner last month.

Awards Host: “We have a special presentation to make as part of the radio awards. The media club received a number of emails about a person many felt deserved special recognition. A person who goes ‘above and beyond’……

Here is an excerpt from one of the emails received: “Scott Mayman should be recognised for his tireless, unpaid dedication to help the young up and coming journos who are fresh from university.

Sadly his Ready Reserve program is ending, after many years of success but we feel that the Gold Coast, Logan City and Brisbane radio fraternity should honour Scott in some way, even if it is a special mention for his efforts.

Scott goes above and beyond in his support for young ‘up and comers’. The Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane radio industry is a much better place thanks to Scott.”
