Radio Adelaide powers up this week

After 18 months of planning and fundraising, Radio Adelaide’s new antenna is going up this week and will allow the station to take maximum advantage of its new FM frequency.

Manager Deborah Welch says: “Once we’re up our signal strength will increase from the current 2 kilowatts to around 6 or 7 kilowatts, improving the range and quality of our on air sound.”

The changeover day is tomorrow (Friday December 19). The station is expecting to be off air from 9.10 am and back on air (if all
goes well) from 4 pm.

The station, previously called 5UV, is one of Australia’s oldest community radio stations and was on the AM band for most of its life until ABA Licence Area Plans for Adelaide found an available frequency on FM 101.5.

Welch will be seeking listener feedback on the quality of our new signal. The station’s number is 08 8303 5000.
