Nurse inquest delayed. Coroner seeks more information

After already having been rescheduled once, the inquest into the suicide of British nurse Jacintha Saldanha due to commence on Thursday at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London has again been postponed. This time because the Coroner Fiona Wilcox said she was “seeking more information.”

Summer HOT 30 presenter Mel Greig, who along with co-host Michael Christian placed the now infamous prank call to London’s King Edward VII hospital, was due to appear to give evidence at the inquiry which was expected to last for two days.

A spokesman for Westminster council said, “We hope to have a new date within a few days.”

The family of the deceased is said to be deeply disappointed that the matter, which was originally set down for May, has again been delayed.

British Indian MP Keith Vaz, who has been advising the nurse’s family since her death, said, “They are rather disappointed at the decision as they have been waiting for nine months and this is the second time the inquest has been adjourned. For them, the inquest represents closure. We very much hope we will have a new date set soon.”
