Nova 96.9 crossovers for Greatest Hits Workday

Wednesday 18 July, 2018

It's been one month since Nova 96.9 Sydney rolled out 'Greatest Hits Workday'.

Comparing the Nova playlist during the months before and after the change, the station retained over 60% of its playlist, or 367 songs between Monday to Friday.

This included major players like Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Pink and Shawn Mendes as well as Aussie acts Amy Shark, Peking Duk and Dean Lewis.

Riarne Gale, AirCheck Client Services Executive said, ‘Since rolling out the Greatest Hits format, Nova has been playing a greater range of tracks, with 132 new tracks added to rotation in the last month’.

During prime time hours 6am-6pm, the crossover was slightly lower at 54.5%. More than a quarter of the playlist was brand new and had not been played in the previous month.

New songs added included Blue’s ‘All Rise’, Backstreet Boys’ ‘Larger Than Life’ and Fall Out Boy’s ‘Thnks Fr Th Mmrs’. Meanwhile Ed Sheeran’s ‘What Do I Know’, The Weeknd’s ‘Pray For Me’ and Liam Payne & J Balvin’s ‘Familiar’ were dropped.

Artists that received more airtime included Adele, who gained twice as many spins, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, who enjoyed one of the biggest increases in airplay, receiving five times more spins than before the new format. Spins from Camila Cabello, David Guetta and Selena Gomez were reduced, with Post Malone spins down by 32%.
