No chairs for Fairfax or SCA

Fairfax Media and Southern Cross Austereo will both be without company chairmen in the coming financial year, as Roger Corbett and Max Moore-Wilton both step down from their positions.

Both chairmen have presided over turbulent times in their companies.

Moore-Wilton was at the helm during the tragic nurse prank and when Kyle and Jackie departed to rival ARN and Corbett (pictured) has been under sustained attack from parties associated with Gina Rinehart, the company’s major shareholder.

The Australian Financial Review has reported that none of the the other SCA board members has stepped forward to apply for the SCA chairman’s role.

Corbett’s succession plan at Fairfax Media is also unclear, but former Fairfax journalist and shareholder activist Stephen Mayne has been put forward as a candidate for the board. Fairfax has urged shareholders to vote against the resolution.
