New broadcast manager for 3PBS

PBS 106.7FM has announced the appointment of Garry Seven as its new Broadcast Manager. Seven has worked and volunteered at three community radio stations
during the past 15 years: Southern FM, 3MBS and Triple R.

A self-confessed music fanatic of ‘all genres’, Seven currently has a show at Triple R on Friday nights, which he will leave by the end of the year to take up the role at PBS.
Seven has a professional work background in negotiation, relationship building, marketing
and business development, most significantly several years with Madman as Brand and
Licensing Manager.

PBS General Manager Adrian Basso says the role of Broadcast Manager is central to PBS, a station which in many ways is the backbone of Melbourne’s music community:

“PBS is an iconic music station with a proud 29-year history of broadcasting a wide range of
music seldom heard elsewhere: gospel, reggae, blues, country, jazz, soul, rock, metal,
electronic, hip hop, world and film soundtracks, just to name a few.”

“The role of Broadcast Manager is critical in that it helps shape the sound of the station. Garry will be working with presenters and the station community to ensure that a dynamic
cross section of quality local and international music makes it to air in Melbourne on programs that are lively, relevant and great to listen to.

“PBS has a proud track record of supporting and nurturing Melbourne’s internationally
recognised music scene and looks forward to continuing to extend and strengthen this as it
enters its 30th year in 2009.”

Run by more than 200 dedicated volunteers and a small team of professional staff, PBS
broadcasts to over 210,000 weekly listeners across Melbourne.

Seven will be starting at the station next week.
