National Radio Conference begins

The National Radio Conference begins this morning at 8:45 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, with over 600 delegates expected to attend the variety of sessions ranging from all things programmatic, to ensuring your breakfast talent is “on” 24/7.  But even with the wide range of sessions and talented speakers, the conversation around the registration desk this morning is all about the recent metro breakfast changes, and the return of Rove McManus.

Conference delegates will have a chance to hear first hand why Southern Cross Austereo is banking on Rove to turn around Sydney’s 2Day FM when Mediaweek’s James Manning goes one-one-one with CEO Grant Blackley at 10:30am.

The chat with Blackley kicks off back-to-back morning sessions, including:

  • Brand Content.  Sean Cummins (CEO, Cummins and Partners) talks branded content, social media and activation and how it all works together to get people to buy brands.
  • Thriving in an owned, earned and paid world.  Industry experts discuss how all three work in unison and where radio fits in.
  • Lifting the lid on programmatic.  The panel tries to work through the confusion around programmatic, and it’s place in todays media landscape.

Following lunch, delegates will break into a series of workshops, which include:

  • How NOT to make wallpaper.  Award winning creative Matt Dickson works through strategies to create unique advertising.
  • The Best Ideas from Radio Across the World.  Radio Futurologist James Cridland explores radio ideas from around the world.
  • App, App and Away.  If you’ve ever thought about mobile apps for your station, this is where to start.

radioinfo is on the ground at the conference and will provide updates on all key sessions.  Check back through the day for the latest, and remember to follow radionfo on Twitter and Facebook.
