Mixes in Melbourne and Sunshine Coast leap on leap year promotions

Like the Olympics, the opportunity for women to propose marriage to men only comes around once every four years. In fact, once every leap year on February 29th. It’s the legend of which chick flicks are made – or at least a romantic promotion for stations that don’t mind skewing female.

So it transpired on this quadrennial day that both Mix 10.1 Melbourne and 92.7 MIX FM on the Sunshine Coast (similar call signs, different owners) decided to put live proposals to air.

This morning on Mix101.1’s Two Women & A Metro, Georgia from Preston proposed to her partner of 7 years, Nathan, live in the Melbourne studio. Unsuspecting Nathan did not hesitate with his response. It was YES.

Meanwhile, about 1600 km north on the Sunshine Coast, Mark Darin from 92.7 MIX FM’s ‘Mark & Caroline for Breakfast’ received quite a surprise when his partner Tracy took the opportunity to
use the leap year, and take the leap by asking HIM to marry her.

Mark & Caroline were broadcasting live at the Caloundra State School for the final MIX FM ‘Back to School Blast’. The media were invited to be there just after 8, and everyone was in on the secret except for Mark.
