Lawrence Mooney, You can’t breach COVID orders

Triple M Sydney’s breakfast host, Lawrence ‘Moonman’ Mooney, has been forced to apologise after breaching NSW lockdown orders.

Mooney was busted after posting photos of his two-week Byron Bay break on Instagram, despite having worked in Sydney during the period that required people to stay at home due to the latest COVID outbreak.

He told the Daily Telegraph’s Confidential (subscription required), “I know how serious this is and the impact lockdowns are having across the state and am very embarrassed by my misunderstanding and stuff up. I feel like an absolute goose for not realising I wasn’t permitted to travel to Byron Bay during my break.”

Mooney said that because he lives in the NSW Southern Highlands and only works in the Sydney CBD he thought he was exempt from the lockdown rules, but this morning 2GB’s Ben Fordham said he had uncovered evidence that the Triple M host had lied, saying “You can’t be serious! You’re telling big, fat, rotten lies and you know it!”
