Kyle’s warning to radio rivals: ‘D-Day is coming’

It was in 1938 a radio adaptation of H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds caused mass hysteria among listeners who believed fake news bulletins from the 40-year-old novel describing a Martian invasion of New Jersey, were real.

“For a time I believed that mankind had been swept out of existence, and that I stood there alone, the last man left alive.”

Is Kyle Sandilands channeling H.G. Wells?

This morning on The Kyle and Jackie O Show he warned of a Radio D-Day but unlike the fake news bulletins Kyle is threatening to dish up real dirt to destroy his radio rivals.

“Bringing down the opposition is on Thursday. Nova — you should change your billboards to ‘it’s all over for Nova’ …”

Kyle’s threat followed a tirade directed at Nova after the Mediawatch spotlight was thrust upon them last night, calling them out for re-using audio of winners claiming a prize in both Sydney and Melbourne.

“I’m not finished. This is only day one of my ‘D-Day for radio.”

“…and those clowns at 2DayFM, don’t think you get out of it either.

“Thursday — write it down. 2DayFM and Nova, you’re in my sights. I have to tell everyone: there’s some bad shit going on.”

“You’re going to cop it as well. I’ve been digging around … I’ve got some great shit on people, things that people have done bad.”

And as we all set our countdown calendars to Thursday March 30th at 6am, a reminder it was the microbes in the dirt that killed off the invaders in War of the Worlds.
