The aim of the JOY 94.9 Our Voice project is to create awareness of the Victorian LGBTIQ community history using the stories of our community. Through sharing their stories JOY 94.9 hopes to preserve their wisdom, allowing us to build our future on their knowledge and promote understanding, awareness and appreciation for our culture, experiences, achievements and pride.

JOY 94.9’s ‘Been There Done That’ team recently had an extended chat with Graeme Hairsine from Public Records Office of Victoria about his role and work in archiving a vast array of records created by Victorian Government departments and authorities and about their Local History Grants Program: supporting community groups to preserve their local history and heritage.

JOY 94.9 gratefully acknowledges the support of the Public Records Office Victoria and the Victorian Government for making the Our Voice project possible.
