Reading the local paper this morning, Jay & Dave from Sea FM McKay and The Whitsundays came across the story of Irene, a local woman who had her windscreen smashed in on Saturday night and was struggling to find the money to repair it.
 
The duo got in touch with a local windscreen repairer who offered to fix it free of charge. Later, a car dealership got in touch with Irene and offered to pay her registration on the car this year.
 
The MacKay community is currently struggling with the mining industry experiencing a downturn.
 
Dave Peters, breakfast announcer on Sea FM told radioinfo, “It gave us a good feeling to be able to use what we do to help a battler in such an immediate way.
