Hughesy and Kate help get Nepalese aid off the ground

In the wake of the Nepalese earthquake, the KIIS Network’s Hughesy & Kate spoke to Amelia Hillary, granddaughter of Sir Edmund Hillary about delivering supplies to Nepal.

Amelia has been in negotiations with Etihad Airlines to assist in transporting 400kg’s of donated supplies over to hospitals and communities in Nepal.

She told Hughesy and Kate, “This is a total national disaster for the country. Particularly a country that very honestly can barely deal with everyday life at times.”

The drive duo appealed to Etihad Airlines themselves and rallied listeners to provide support on twitter to increase Amelia’s weight limit on her 10:40pm flight that night.

Following her chat with Hughesy and Kate, Amelia confirmed that she has boarded the plane bound for Kathmandu with donated medical supplies, blankets and water filtration systems.

Amelia also confirmed that her father, Peter Hillary, is currently stranded but safe with a community group below base camp in Nepal.
