hit107 replaces Adelaide’s SAFM

The new name of SAFM Adelaide has finally been announced, It is hit107.

In a complete overhaul that sees new breakfast duo Amos Gill and Dani Pola hopefully steering the station to success for SCA, hit107 promises to “deliver an all new sound, new shows and new energy.”

The station will launch at 8am on Monday 20th October, 2014.

The new breakfast team is Amos & Dani.  Amos is an Adelaide local with a background in comedy. Dani is being billed as the “glamour girl-next-door”, soon to “become everyone’s BFF”. That’s Best Friend Forever, in case you didn’t know.

SCA Head of Content, Craig Bruce says: “It’s been really exciting to build a new station from the ground up. Everything from our music features, our breakfast contests, our approach to news and information, the tone of the and feel of our production and more. Hopefully we can shake Adelaide up and get people buzzing about the new hit107. And whilst the bells and whistles are all well and good, more important than the trimmings is the breakfast show – and to that end, we think we’ve found a really exciting combination in Amos & Dani.”

“Hit107 has been developed to give Adelaide’s radio landscape a great new brand that is agile and exciting,” according to SCA Head of Marketing and Communication, Nikki Clarkson. “Working across all platforms, this new radio station mark aims to become part of everyday life amongst Adelaide’s women under 40.”

Excitement is already building after the announcement, with the following Tweet appearing:

Now attention turns to Sydney’s flailing 2DayFM and a possible rebranding of the station, which has been struggling since the departure of Kyle & Jackie O who left to join rival radio network ARN. Rumours have been swirling about major changes at both SAFM and Sydney’s 2Day FM, with Southern Cross chief executive Rhys Holleran telling The Australian, that SCA has no plans to sell any stations. While he wouldn’t at that stage confirm the name, he did say, “We will play hit music, I can tell you that much.”

He is yet to comment on possible changes to 2DayFM.
