Another loss for Melbourne radio. Guess we can't
Seem to get any non left voices here . Yes we have
The phone apps but it's never the same and convenient
Especially for older people.
Heartfelt goodbye and thanks for the last year or so
Given that the George and Paul show will only be broadcast on 2GB and 4BC, the other states, Vic, SA and WA and Territory, ACT may miss well miss out on terrestrial reception.
Given that Macquarie Media owns the the DAB channel "NTS", which is used for program highlights and occasionally broadcasts of cricket matches, why can't NTS be used to broadcast the "George and Paul Show" to Vic, SA, WA and ACT and wherever Macquarie Media broadcasts its DAB+ signals?
Thank you,
Anthony of exciting Belfield
Looks like the once great 2UE will continue its slide down the gurgler of irrelevancy.
Thud, that was me falling off my chair!! Mmm yes it is all about rating and George and Paul are just brilliant at what they do. I have never listened to them on an actual "Radio" its been all online for me, so it won't affect. As Talking Lifestyle and 2GB are owned by the same, it just makes sense. All the best George and Paul, I'll just have to remember to use the 2GB app in Tune In Pro!!
So Luke Grant is the casualty of this move. He is the current presenter for most of the hours George and Paul will be filling.
Shifting George and Paul is another inept move at MRN.
To build a new format on 954 (it's nothing like 2UE now to call it that) requires a bedrock, an anchor of familiarity. George and Paul provide that on weekends.
With the 12 hrs of content they manage each week, it would be possible to package 5 hrs of their work to air at 5am weekdays for an hour as a lead in to whatever breakfast show they select. It's sure to be music based with one announcer. Despite Smooth's overall success, breakfast is not a strong shift as there's not the audience at breakfast who want to hear music only.
