First radio survey for Geraldton

Today’s first ever radio survey for the coastal city of Geraldton in Western Australia’s mid-west region kicks off the regional radio ratings schedule for 2018.

Spirit Radio and Red FM – with an overall share of 32.4% and 24.5% respectively – are the commercial radio stations serving the region, which includes the Port of Geraldton and is a major producer of grain and iron ore.

The two commercial stations attracted the most listeners in all demographics, except the 40+ group, which tuned into ABC Mid-West & Wheatbelt for a 34.6% share, while Triple J took  22.2% of the under-40s.

The survey was conducted by Xtra Insights from 5 – 24 March.

“The radio ratings highlight the audience reach of regional stations like Spirit Radio and Red FM and the role they play in the local community in keeping their listeners informed and entertained,” said Joan Warner chief executive officer of Commercial Radio Australia.
