Fill-ins score full-time gig on Nova 969

Nova’s new programming culture based on more new music is getting a further shake-up from next Monday with the addition of James Kerleyand Maz Compton join the Nova 969, Sydney, on-air line up.

Maz and Kerley have been “fill-ins” at Nova this year and have been busting to work together fulltime.
Kerley started his television career as host of Nickelodeon’s Sarvo before joining Channel [V] as a presenter. Most recently he hosted Network TEN’s program Taken Out and now Kerley will add radio to his CV.

Kerley says: “Since the day we met, I’ve always said I want to be on you … Nova that is, not Maz. After several affairs and one-night stands with Nova it’s nice they’re making an honest man of me and making our relationship more permanent. It’s the start of a beautiful thing.”

For MTV VJ Maz, starting as half of the Nova Nights crew is just like coming home. Maz joined Nova in 2001, before pursuing her television career as a reporter for MTV, before answering the call of radio again.

Maz says: “It only took my big break on TV and four years of being a VJ, for Nova to realise that the chick who used to answer the phones for them might go all right on the wireless … good one Nova! But seriously I’m really stoked to be re-joining the family and hopefully this time around someone will be getting ME a soy chai latte!”

Maz and Kerley promise to play the hottest new music first every night and run riot after dark when the boss isn’t listening.

Adam Williscroft, Nova 969 Program Director, says: “Maz and Kerley bring an energy and spark to the airwaves you can’t fake. They are genuine friends, who love being on the radio together. Either that, or one of them has photos of the other in a compromising position.”
