Festival of Syn is for Media Educational purposes only

Best of all, courses in SYN during the festival are free

SYN Media have announced the Festival of SYN – a week-long event offering a wide range of, free radio, TV and online media making workshops for young people and those who work with young people, such as educators and youth workers.

The hands-on workshops, normally priced between $600 and $2000, will include:

  • Planning and producing a radio show
  • Creating TV and screen content
  • Exclusive, in-studio sessions with some of the youngest broadcasters in the country

The Festival also includes specially tailored sessions for under 18s and women, giving access to those not adequately represented in the media.

A full list of workshops can be seen in the Festival Program at syn.org.au/festivalofsyn.

“SYN offers incredible opportunities for young Melbournians to make the media instead of simply absorbing it,” says SYN General Manager Tahlia Azaria. “Now teachers, youth workers and young people alike all have the chance to learn together.”

SYN Media has been a launch pad for numerous media-makers Australia-wide including Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, Jack Post (SCA), Zan Rowe (Triple J), Seb Costello (Channel 9) and many more.

The Festival of SYN will be held in the school holidays at the House of SYN in Carlton – from April 8th to 14th  with workshops being held from 9am until late.

These workshops will be popular so bookings are essential. To make your booking, head to syn.org.au/festivalofsyn, email [email protected] or call on (03) 9925 4747.

The Festival of SYN is funded by the City of Melbourne.

SYN provides media training and broadcast opportunities to over 1000 young people each year.
