Deb Cameron leaving ABC702

Deborah Cameron is leaving the ABC702 morning show. "After four very enjoyable years with 702 ABC Sydney, I will be leaving the ABC to pursue fresh challenges," said Cameron announcing her departure earlier this week. Today, her last day on air, she continued enthusiastically to the end, with only a slight crack in her voice as she said her final goodbyes.

Earlier in the week she thanked her "enthusiastic listeners, my loyal and dedicated production staff, and the ABC in general for giving me this wonderful opportunity.”

On air on Monday at 702, Cameron confirmed that her contract had not been renewed, and said she had been "incredibly lucky" to have had 4 years on air to talk about Sydney. Listen here.

ABC Local Content Manager Andy Henley said Cameron has been "a valued member of the 702 team over the past four years, growing a loyal audience in the Mornings timeslot… We feel it is time for the program to be refreshed and will be announcing a new presenter for the Mornings program in due course."

In the most recent ratings survey Deb Cameron's shift scored 8.3%. In her time on the show she had dropped as low as 7.3% and risen to a high of 10.6%.
