Community Radio Burns the Midnight Oil

Melbourne inner eastern community radio station, 3WBC 94.1FM, has started burning the midnight oil, with a new ‘Easy Listening Overnight’ show being added to its programming schedule.

The eight hour program, initially being broadcast on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings from midnight, is hosted by three experienced presenters, headed by 3KZ veteran, Arthur Stevens.

3WBC Production Coordinator, Daniel Anderson, says the show boosts the stations’s broadcast hours: “management realised our programming was lacking something. For so long, people have been asking for more hours and, as a result, we’ve added Easy Listening Overnight to our weekend schedule.

“We are honoured to have someone with Arthur’s experience on board. The other presenters also have commercial radio experience, so it’s a great bonus for us.”

The show includes easy listening music from the ’60s to today. Eventually, 3WBC hopes to extend the new weekend program to weekdays.

Longer hours on air coincide with negotiations by 3WBC to move its transmission facilities to Surrey Hills.
