ColdPlay simulcast breaks records

Stats are now available for the record breaking Coldplay concert simulcast on the SCA network last week.

Coldplay fans from around the globe listened to the band’s sold-out Enmore Theatre gig in Sydney last week, which was broadcast across Southern Cross Austereo’s 91 radio stations, 90 mobile-optimized websites, 72 smart phone apps, and at the dedicated microsite coldplayaustralia.com.au.

In what was an Australian media first, SCA in partnership with Warner Music Australia and Parlophone celebrated Coldplay’s new album Ghost Stories by airing the exclusive concert across the entire Today and Triple M Networks, which have a combined weekly audience of over five million people.

On the day SCA had 360,000 unique online browsers nationally and over 500,000 globally. The concert was given rave reviews by fans, who loved the ability to connect with one of their favourite bands in real-time and in surround sound.

The gig attracted 69,543 digital streamers with many more on FM, AM and DAB+.

Fans took to social media to share their listening experience, causing the #ColdplayLive hashtag to be a top trend in Australia, after almost 10,000 tweets were sent from  all corners of the globe.

Those that were lucky enough to score tickets to the coveted gig were also able to engage with other fans by uploading videos and photos using the hashtag – all of which were then featured on the microsite, giving other aficionados a scope into the gig.

The much-anticipated concert was played out across the country and around the globe commercial free, and offered fans the unique opportunity to connect with Coldplay.
