Clear Channel buys RCS

U.S. Clear Channel has acquired Radio Computing Services, better known as RCS.

The RCS music scheduling software, Selector, is used by over 7000 clients on a worldwide basis, or about 85 percent of radio stations.

RCS President/CEO Philippe Generali said: “We are delighted to announce that RCS has become part of the Clear Channel family and will continue to super-serve the entire broadcast community worldwide. We look forward to having additional resources for continued growth and innovative technologies for the radio industry.”

RCS was founded by Dr. Andrew Economos in 1979 who will remain in an advisory role to The RCS Group. He has been retained under a multiyear consulting agreement with Clear Channel. Current management will continue to operate the day-to-day operations at RCS.

A Clear Channel spokesperson said, “Clear Channel will continue the current businesses and support RCS in maintaining their high standards and high level of expertise in meeting the needs of radio, television, the Internet and other media.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
