Demons gain new supporter.


Since arriving in Melbourne, Gold 104.3 breakfast host Christian O’Connell has (wisely) taken the choosing of an AFL club very seriously, listening to pitches from ten clubs. 

“This has been one of the most nerve-wracking things I have ever been involved in in radio,” O’Connell said this morning.

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan was on hand today in the Gold studio for the big reveal, and asked O’Connell to repeat the following:

‘I, Christian Liam O’Connell, wholeheartedly understand, the decision I make today is final. The team I choose will never change. They colours they wear will become my colours. I shall possess pure faith fo the team I choose. Yet reserve the right to abandon them in moments of passion.’

McLachlan concluded ‘By the power vested in me as the CEO of the AFL, it gives me great pleasure to announce to Melbourne and Australia which great club has the honour of calling you their supporter. Christian’s club forevermore is …. THE DEMONS.’
