Better coverage areas for remote broadcasters Rebel, Breeze and Flow

The ACMA has decided to extend the transmission of commercial radio broadcasting services Breeze FM (4BRZ), Rebel FM (4RBL) and Flow FM (8SAT) in remote areas of central and north-east Australia.

This regulator will vary the licence area plan (LAP) to accommodate new radio services in these remote areas.

The changes will extend Breeze services in NSW at Barrington/Stratford and Tenterfield, and in Qld at Alpha, Banana, Chinchilla, Collinsville, Dirranbandi, Goondiwindi, Julia Creek, Karumba, Miles, Monto, Normanton, Taroom, Theodore and Wandoan.

New Rebel services will operate in NSW at Barrington/Stratford, Tenterfield and Wilcannia, and in Qld at Alpha, Aurukun, Bamaga, Chinchilla, Goondiwindi, Julia Creek, Karumba, Gununa, Hope Vale, Kowanyama, Miles, Monto, Pormpuraaw, Taroom and Theodore.

Flow FM services will become available in NSW at Lake Cargelligo, and in SA at Hawker and Minnipa.

The ACMA has decided not to amend the definition of the Remote Commercial Radio Service North East Zone RA1 (RNEZ) licence area at this time as a result of submissions to the draft LAP variation. The matter will now be considered as part of a subsequent variation to the Remote LAP.

The changes are contained in the Variation to Licence Area Plan – Remote Central and Eastern Australia Radio – No. 1 of 2012.
