Basement to broadcast Narooma Festival

Narooma, the sleepy little township on the NSW South Coast will come alive in October when the annual invasion of music lovers hits town for the staging of the 8th Annual Telstra Great Southern Blues & Rockabilly Festival.

As the list of confirmed appearances at this year’s event grows, Festival Producer Neil Mumme announced that legendary Texan band The Fabulous Thunderbirds will be leading the international contingent. Joining them will be The Kenny Neal Band and Johnnie Johnson who is making a return trip to the Festival.

The Australian line-up is equally impressive with “Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons, Tex & the Dark Horses, The Backsliders, Renee Geyer & Band, Fiona Boyes, Chris Wilson, Pete Cornelius & the Devilles plus a return visit by Australian music great Ross Wilson & the Urban Legends.

This year music fans can also access a 12-hour live webcast on www.thebasement.com.au. The coverage will start at 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday evenings and finish at midnight and will feature at least ten of the top bands.

The Basement team will beam the coverage from Narooma to Sydney by satellite, where the signal will be encoded for the Internet and made freely available on the worldwide web. The concerts will also be recorded for multiple replays over the following two weeks for both narrowband and broadband customers.
