Back to the Future speculation for new Sydney FM licence

Another story by Sue Javes (The Guide, SMH) speculates that the likes of Doug Mulray and Wendy Harmer are prominent targets for key on air roles, amid the frenzy over Sydney’s newest FM licence.

It’s reported that DMG, which owns the Nova stations, is keen to set up a new station like the old 2Day FM, with feelers already going out to former 2Day breakfast star, Wendy Harmer. However, contractually, she can’t talk to another station until November.

Another prediction is that Gold Coast company, Hot Tomato, could establish a classic hits station like the old 2WS format.

And, in another back to the future scenario, the successful bidder might even try to entice the legendary Doug Mulray back on air, with Triple M’s shift to talk and new music disenfranchising men over 35.

Applications close at midnight next Monday (22 March) for new Sydney and Brisbane FM licences.
