The Melbourne Radio School has just been acquired by ACE Radio Broadcasters Pty Ltd. The School was purchased from Gary and Joan Mac, who have operated it successfully for almost 20 years.
A “legendary Melbourne radio identity,” Gary Mac will remain with the School as a consultant.
ACE Radio Broadcasters Managing Director, Stephen Everett, first saw the opportunity to acquire the School late last year and has since spent many months negotiating the purchase. Everett says: “This is not only an exciting new opportunity for ACE Radio Broadcasters but indeed for the entire radio industry. Through the School, we remain committed to promoting an even greater array of exceptional new talent into the many different areas of radio.”
The new General Manager of the School will be Dave Carter, who brings to the school 17 years of experience and expertise in the radio and television fields. Most recently, Dave was General Manager of Programming & Talent at the radio syndication company, mcm entertainment, where he spent more than 7 years working with some of the world’s biggest names in entertainment to produce radio, television and event programming.
“Dave’s experience with all facets of the radio industry will be a tremendous asset to the Melbourne Radio School. Together, we’re looking forward to growing the business with some exciting new course modules, which we hope to announce within the next six months,” says Everett.
On the announcement of his appointment, Dave Carter told radioinfo: “The School is an exciting new challenge for me. I’ve always taken a keen interest in the development of new talent and the Melbourne Radio School already presents some excellent opportunities for aspiring talent to join an incredible industry. There are, however, definite plans to expand on those opportunities and I’m delighted that Gary will remain with the School to assist me in that area.”
