2007: radioinfo Year in Review

This year radioinfo covered over 1100 stories about the Australian radio industry, from the lighter side, through station publicity, to the important political and regulatory stories that were a big part of 2007.

The election; over regulation of regional stations thanks to political lobbying from backbenchers; the charge towards digital radio; and many other stories were part of the serious issues we covered this year. It was the 40th anniversary of talk radio; John Laws retired; the media laws changed; the ABC got new Brisbane premises after the old ones were said to have caused cancer; the community radio sector had a vote of confidence from a parliamentary inquiry; Southern Cross Broadcasting was sold to MRRWorks and Fairfax; and Tony O’Reilly failed in his bid to buy APN.

You can use the links in this story to look back on stories you may have missed this year. This article (January to June in reverse order), and the other associated article, give you a glimpse into the year as radioinfo reported it and allow direct links to each of this year’s past stories.

Below are all the stories from the first half of this year as radioinfo reported them. To see stories from the second part of the year see our related story.
