The CBF has announced its new board with appointments commencing on July 1st
The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance, operation and strategic development of the Community Broadcasting Foundation.
The Foundation is the major funding body for community radio, receiving funds from government to distribute as grants in the community broadcasting sector.

“Everyone tells stories. The difference between us as media professionals and everyone else, is that we tell stories for a living,”  said radioinfo’s Steve Ahern, chairing the Storytelling panel session at the 2016 Asia Media Summit in Korea.

“Our stories have to matter,” according to Ahern, who says they must get an audience, must have a structure and a purpose, and they must be well told.

In a conference workshop titled Socialising Radio, international trainer Steve Ahern told Radio Asia delegates,“the 24 hour news cycle is now about 24 minutes… everything is faster and more social, we must adapt to the new environment.”

The half day workshop showed participants how they can leverage the strengths of radio, such as immediacy and intimacy, in the new media landscape.

“Changing audience consumption patterns are forcing broadcasters to evolve and become smaller, faster, cheaper and social,” said Ahern.

Asian and European Media cooperation at #Media2020 Conference Beijing

The European and Asian media markets have some common features but many differences. 

The final session of the Media 2020 Conference held in Beijing brought together media experts from around the globe to talk about how Asian and European media companies can help each other.


Giacomo Ghisani, Acting Director General of Radio Vaticana, began the discussion by outlining 3 key areas that are very different between Asia and Europe.

Cathy O'Connor, CEO of Nova Entertainment, has recorded an Oral History interview with Sandra Odorisio at the NFSA ( National film and Sound Archive of Australia) in Sydney.
The interview joins a range of radio industry oral histories collected over the years as part of the Once Upon a Wireless project.
