Seven West Media's Redwave radio stations increase revenue

Seven West Media, the parent company of the Spirit and Red FM networks in WA, has reported annual financial results today.

The company has reported a statutory net loss of $745.0 million for the year ended 24 June 2017 after significant one-off writedowns of its television business.

Excluding the writedowns, Seven West showed an underlying profit after income tax, excluding significant items net of tax of $166.8 million on total revenues of $1,679.4 million. 

The company's radio division revenue increased by $2 million.

Team Spirit survives the 24 hour of LeMons

The Challenge was simple, buy a car worth no more than $999, install a safety harness and roll cage and keep it alive as it drives around Collie Motorplex for 24 hours.

The team at Spirit Radio took on the challenge and partook in this first of its kind event in Western Australia.

Despite some cars replacing engines and fuel tanks, The Team Spirit car survived the 24 hours with the biggest challenge being the brake pads that needed 3 changes over the weekend.

Last Wednesday Brisbane radio station Hit 105 breakfast announcers Stav Davidson and Abby Coleman attempted to set a new record for Most Fitbit Steps By Two People In An Hour While Hosting A Radio Show, a title proudly held since 2nd March by Karratha hosts Pablo Newton Farley and Angie Ayers.

The record stood at a combined 14,223 steps in an hour and the Hit 105 team beat it with 15,772 steps, crushing the Karratha team who they crossed to during judging.

Ride for Unity with AFL legend Scotty Cummings

Next month AFL Legend and Sports Day radio presenter Scotty Cummings and Spirit radio breakfast host Pablo Newton Farley will ride 600km for charity.
 
Leaving August 24th from Port Hedland and riding for 6 days across the Pilbara the team will arrive in Onslow on Saturday 29th
 
The pair have never ridden this distance before and it’s Pablo’s very first time on a road bike.

Spirit team locked in a shopping centre overnight

So what did they do? They broadcast live, of course.

The Spirit Radio team, Karratha, led by Breakfast host Pablo Newton Farley broadcast for 28hours straight from 7:00 am Thursday morning till 11:00 am Friday morning raising funds for Telethon.

Without a wink of sleep they raised well over $10,000.

Spirit Radio presenter Pablo Newton Farley will put his fitness to the test in a ’12km race off’ with Perth Wildcats star Damien Marten in the Chevron City to Surf for Activ in Karratha at the end of this month.

Farley is beginning to think strategically in his bid to beat the athletic Wildcats star to the finish line: “I’m planning to handicap Damo with some weights to stop him lapping me. He may be on off session but I am permanently on off season.”
