91.9 SEA FM’s will kick off 2020 with a new local Drive Show, Elly & Becks, beginning Monday February 3rd.
 
After spending the last 2 years hosting the number one breakfast show in Shepparton, Elly Chaney is looking forward to experiencing everything the Sunshine Coast has to offer, while working with Luke ‘Becks’ Toohey to bring local drive to the Sunshine Coast on 91.9 SEA FM.

919 SEA FM has appointed Rachel McLarnon previously from CFM Darling Downs, NXFM Newcastle and HIT105 Brisbane to the position of Morning Announcer and Digital.

EON Broadcasters, owners of Sydney’s 2CH, has announced its first new appointment after taking over the station from Macquarie Media in January.

Ian Rogerson will be joining the 2CH on-air team from Monday 13th March in “Drive” from 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday.

Something in the air causing strange things on air

In meteorology, an inversion is a deviation from the normal change of an atmospheric property with altitude. It almost always refers to a "temperature inversion", i.e. an increase in temperature with height, or to the layer ("inversion layer") within which such an increase occurs.

Apparently, it doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, FM radio is all over the place because of the unusual atmospherics.

919 SEA FM Sunshine Coast Breakfast Team, BarRat & Jess, have a few iconic moments coming up. Jess is about to give birth to child number two and BarRat is finally getting a two week holiday.

So filling in for two weeks BarRat’s mate Simon Baggs, Ex KIIS Sydney, Melbourne and Nova 93.7, will be working the room each morning with Jess.

Baggs  resigned from KIIS 101.1 in July to head off and  see the world.

Radio tinder "swipes" into marriage

919 Sea FM’s BarRat and Jess saw Tinder’s use exploding, so they turned it into a radio segment, that one and a half years later, saw Kristy marry Kurt at a surprise wedding.

Kurt called 919 Sea FM in August 2014. On-hold were three ladies waiting to see which way he would “swipe”. Who knew.... he was blown away by the first caller ‘Kristy’, so with no need to keep looking (or listening in our radio version), BarRat and Jess sent the couple off to The Creek Tavern for a date.

Rod Brice has been appointed Content Director of 919 Sea FM & 92.7 MIX FM on the Sunshine Coast. 

Brice has spent recent years running his own programming, research and consulting business. He has held a number of senior roles in his career; including Group Content Director and Regional Research and Operations Manager, with RG Capital Radio, Macquarie Regional Radio works and Southern Cross Austereo
