Richard Stubbs speaks with Craig Bruce

Comedian and radio presenter Richard Stubbs has hung up his headphones after 11 years presenting the afternoon program on ABC 774, but not before raiding the stationery cupboard.
 
ABC Radio has announced that Dave O'Neil will replace Stubbsy on the afternoon shift.

Stubbs made the big decision to pull the pin on the eve of his 58th birthday and whilst recovering from the death of his beloved mother this year. He said he still has many other things he would like to do with his life:

Stubbs has made the big decision on the eve of his 58th birthday and whilst recovering from the death of his beloved mother this year. He said he still has many other things he would like to do with his life:

“I want to leave while the shows are strong and challenge myself again.” 

Next Saturday marks the 100th anniversary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli, and ABC Local Radio is sending a team to cover the Dawn Service and other events marking the occasion.

The broadcast and will be anchored by Richard Stubbs, who has both a personal and professional interest in the military as his grandfather served as a stretcher bearer on the Western Front during World War I, and his father served in the Australian Navy.  He also had an uncle who survived the Nek at Gallipoli.

ABC Local Radio will deliver a special national broadcast of the 2014 ANZAC Day Dawn Service to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

ABC broadcasters of Australian, New Zealand and Turkish decent will report live from Lone Pine, Gallipoli, anchored by ABC Radio broadcaster Richard Stubbs.

Richard has a deep personal and professional interest in the military - his grandfather was a stretcher bearer on the Western Front in WW1 and his father served in the Australian Navy on HMAS Macquarie.
