Basil Zempilas leaving 6PR

Thursday 15 October, 2020

6PR breakfast co-host Basil Zempilas will leave the station next month after a directive from his main employer Seven West Media.

After its sale by Macquarie Media, 6PR is now owned by Seven's rival, Nine Entertainment, resulting in a conflict for Zempalis.

Basil Zempilas is also standing for the position of Perth Mayor, which would give him an additional workload and a possible conflict of interest with a news/talk station, if he wins the position in this weekend's election.

Friday 28 June, 2019
The language is tough but the message is simple and important.

Nic Naitanui, Nat Fyfe, Matt Preston, Dennis Cometti, Eskimo Joe’s Kav Temperley and more feature in a special #StaytheFkatHome video, along with mix94.5’s Clairsy, Matt & Kymba.

UK Chef, Jamie Oliver, joined The Big Breakfast with Clairsy, Matt & Kymba for a Perth exclusive this morning and absolutely fangirled while holding his first ever koala.

A true Aussie welcome, mix94.5 gave Oliver a five-year-old male koala to hold in studio, with the Celebrity  Chef taking the opportunity to Insta Story the encounter and he did not play it cool

Lisa Shaw calls time on her radio career

Monday 05 November, 2018

After a twenty one year career, mix94.5’s Lisa Shaw won’t be returning to the airwaves next year.
An integral part of mix94.5’s long-standing success ever since returning to Perth in 1997 to join Fred Botica on Botica’s Bunch, and in recent years, with Pete Curulli on mix94.5’s The Rush Hour, Lisa says “Twenty one years is a considerable amount of time, and it may take a bit of reprogramming to avoid opening every conversation with family and friends with what the time and temperature is!”

mix94.5’s $23,600 secret (sound) is out

Friday 05 October, 2018
mix94.5’s Secret Sound went off yesterday during The Rush Hour with Lisa & Pete when lucky listener, Joanne, scored herself the whopping $23,600 jackpot.

Obviously over the moon at winning the cash, Joanne was thrilled her guess, opening a resealable plastic bag, was correct.

Not only is she taking home the cash prize, but it’s safe to say Joanne is also taking home the Mum of the Year Award after the mum-of-three announced she’ll be giving a chunk of the cash to her kids.

Matt & Kav Temperley won’t back down

mix94.5’s Matt, from The Big Breakfast with Clairsy, Matt & Kymba, has teamed up with Eskimo Joe's Kav Temperley to perform a duet of Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’.

Temperely was in studio with The Big Breakfast to chat about his new album, ‘All Your Devotion.’

National Missing Persons Week: 'We need the media'

Thursday 03 August, 2017
This week is National Missing Persons Week, a topic that hit very close to home for mix94.5's Clairsy, Matt & Kymba after Kymba's friends started a five year, country-wide search for their brother Dan.
Loren O'Keeffe's brother walked out of the family home on July 15th 2011, and never returned. Absolutely distraught but filled with determination, Loren quit her job and began a search known as the 'Dan Come Home' campaign that spread to all corners of the country.
