'An exciting year ahead' for MediaWorks NZ

“2018 is set to be an exciting year for MediaWorks radio,” according to Leon Wratt, Group Content Director - Music at MediaWorks Radio.

“From January 15, 2018, Polly & Grant’s breakfast show will be extending beyond More FM Wellington and Kapiti into four additional regions: Waikato, Rotorua, Whanganui and More FM will broadcast on two frequencies in Dunedin, giving listeners the option to tune in to Si & Gary on 97.4FM or Polly & Grant on 100.6FM.”

SCA ends discussion with Oaktree for MediaWorks asset

Simon Barnett has announced he will be retiring from breakfast and music radio at the end of next year.

Simon has been with MORE FM since 1997 as part of the Breakfast Show.

"After 20 years as Breakfast host I have decided not to renew my contract with More FM and MediaWorks. I am contracted until the end of 2018 and over the remaining 18 months, I will give it my absolute all.

Peter Wiltshire's company to rep NZ's Mediaworks in Oz

MediaWorks has appointed newly established WeThinkMedia as its advertising representation agency in Australia.

WeThinkMedia is founded by media executive Peter Wiltshire, former Chief Revenue Officer and Group Sales and Marketing Director at Nine Entertainment and previously GSM at Southern Cross Radio and Television.

Joining Peter and running the MediaWorks business is Jane Stucci, a senior media sales executive, who spent 15 years with SCA.

MediaWorks has appointed Glen Kyne as the group’s Chief Commercial Officer, formalising his current position as Acting CCO.

In this role, Glen will manage the commercial operations across the MediaWorks Television Radio and Digital platforms and brands, including pricing, inventory, a nationwide customer engagement program, and revenue

Glen will oversee a 160-strong team of sales, integration, and sales engagement staff, including MediaWorks’ Integration division.

MediaWorks partners with Vevo

MediaWorks has partnered with music and entertainment content platform Vevo to become their exclusive premium video sales partner in New Zealand.

The partnership will see MediaWorks, as part of their focus on digital content, become the largest supplier of professionally-produced, premium online video content in New Zealand with a combined total of more than 50 million monthly video streams. 

The new content figures means MediaWorks will reach more New Zealanders with online video content than any other local publisher.

MediaWorks Board Director, Jack Matthews will be appointed as Chairman of Mediaworks at the end of September.

Jack Matthews will succeed Rod McGeoch who has been Chairman of MediaWorks since 2013.

In the latest in a string of high-profile resignations and redundancies from New Zealand’s MediaWorks, CEO Mark Weldon has let the board know of his intention to step down which has been accepted.
It follows the resignation of top newsreader and presenter Hilary Barry after 23 years amid a controversial restructuring of the company since Mr. Weldon took the reigns two years ago
