LGBTI community radio station JOY is joining forces with SBS Radio for a Mardi Gras weekend takeover, including a live broadcast of the 40th anniversary parade of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

2Day FM or 2GayFM as they have rebadged themselves in celebration of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, have added their voice to the current same sex marriage debate with an online campaign.
 
“2GayFM loves the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and we can’t wait to celebrate the annual parade this weekend. As we celebrate, we believe it’s important to once again raise the issue of marriage equality in Australia”.
 

Geoff Field "losing patience" with Australia's politicians on same sex marriage

Hit104.1 2dayFM newsreader Geoff Field starred on the weekend in a Lip-Sync battle fundraiser.
 
The Mardi Gras charity event in Sydney was a sell out and by all accounts Geoff’s lip syncing to ABBA’s  “Thank you for the Music”, a crowd favourite.
 
"It was great to put a wig on again, I haven't done it since I did a cameo in Priscilla - I had such a great time, but I'm not real a wig man.”

Dan & Maz hit Mardi Gras

Hit 104.1 2DayFM’s Dan & Maz have scored their own float in this year’s 37th Annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, 7 March.

The duo will be pumping up the party atmosphere and ‘Raving For Mardi Gras’ on a 90’s rave themed float set to the iconic dance track Sandstorm by Darude.

Dan & Maz have been celebrating Mardi Gras all week with interviews from Nick Jonas, Courtney Act, Magda Szubanski, Tom Ballard and Richard Reid.

With the annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this weekend, yesterday we presented a story about two young gay announcers working at regional stations who “came out” live on air.

Today we post this article from hit104.12Day FM’s Geoff Field who became Australian Radio's first openly on-air gay newsreader in 2003. Once again, as an official commercial partner, the station will cover the event and for the first time enter a float.

SBS radio hands over to Joy 94.9 for Sydney Mardi Gras

SBS Radio is joining forces with Melbourne LGBTIQ community radio station JOY 94.9 for a Mardi Gras weekend take over, including a live broadcast of the 2015 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade.
 
JOY 94.9 will take over digital station, SBS Radio 3 from 9.00pm Friday 6 March until 9.00pm Sunday 8 March , including 4 hours of live parade commentary, from 7pm Saturday 8 March.
 

Star Observer Digital back for 2014

Following its successful launch in 2013, Star Observer Digital is back on air.

Star Observer Digital is Sydney’s only Digital Radio station for people expressing sex, sexuality and gender diversities and will broadcast through until March 16.

2Day Fm has been appointed as the official commercial radio broadcast partner  for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras .

In an exclusive two-year deal, the station will change its logo from 2DayFM to 2GayFM for part of the Mardi Gras festival. It will also broadcast dedicated Mardi Gras content throughout the events and specialised playlists on www.Songl.com.
