Vice President and presenter at Hawkesbury Radio, Gavin Casburn, passed away on Sunday 3rd February following complications from surgery for a septic ulcer.

His funeral will be held next Monday (details below).

A member of the station for over 30 years, Gavin had also been a long-term member of the management team, with a wide participation as a presenter, Technical Director, and eventually as Treasurer and Vice President.

Hawkesbury frequency to be shared between four groups in 2019

The FM 89.9 frequency in the Windsor Hawkesbury licence area (Windsor RA1) will be shared between four groups for the next 12 months under a new temporary broadcasting licence (TCBL) decision handed down by the ACMA this month.

As well as the current three groups who shared the frequency this year, another group has been added.

Aspirant Hawkesbury region broadcast group Hawkesbury Gold has been plagued by infighting this week, which spilt over into the public arena via its web and social media platforms today.

Early this morning a message was put on the Hawkesbury Gold website announcing that a range of shows had pulled the plug on their dealings with the aspirant group.

Hawkesbury Gold begins temporary broadcasts

Aspirant community broadcaster Hawkesbury Gold has begun sharing broadcast time on the 89.9 FM frequency as of this week.

Hawkesbury Radio group will now share air time with Hawkesbury Gold on an agreed time share basis:

Hawkesbury Gold - noon Wednesday to midnight Saturday
Hawkesbury Radio - midnight Saturday to noon Wednesday

Hawkesbury Radio to stay on air longer, other groups also contest licence

After recently losing its full time licence, community station Hawkesbury Radio received some good news last week: it will be able to stay on air longer, until 5 November, thanks to a new Temporary Community Broadcasting Licence (TCBL).

The incumbent station has been granted the opportunity to use the temporary licence system to prove to the ACMA that it now deserves a new licence.
