Felicity Smith will be joining The Radio Sales Network's Management Team in the newly created role of State Manager (Queensland).

Grant Broadcasters CEO Grant Cameron made the announcement to all staff this week. “We are very pleased to extend the management team in Queensland, with Felicity adding considerable media skills and knowledge to an already experienced team."

Jeremy Simpson will be joining Grant Broadcasters Senior Executive Team in the newly created role of National Marketing Director.

Jeremy will be charged with leading the marketing function in developing and promoting the strength of Regional Radio and The Radio Sales Network’s (TRSN) owned and represented radio stations to media agencies and major advertisers.

New studios for Power 100 and Star 1063 Townsville

Grant Broadcasters' Townsville operation has moved to new premises in Sturt Street.

Star 1063 and Power 100 will both broadcast from the new building, which has been fitted out with the latest equipment (shown below).

Content Director Jason ‘Wolfie’ Wolfgram has told radioinfo: "We all moved in late last week but we'll be broadcasting out of here from the weekend."

Hobart radio announcer taken off air

Hobart's 7HO FM has apologised on-line following an unfortunate comment made on-air this morning during the breakfast show's Secret Sound segment. Anna Dare, one-half of the breakfast duo alongside Mick Newell, commented on the sound as it was used to solicit callers..."that sounded like someone stuck in a conveyor belt at a theme park".

The co-host was referring to the deaths of four people on the Dreamworld Rapids Ride on the Gold Coast.

Grant Broadcasters, the family-owned-and-operated radio network founded in 1942 by broadcast pioneer Walter Grant, is now working with AudioBoom to host, distribute and monetize on-demand versions of the network's radio programs.

Grant Broadcasters’ diverse family of local stations includes 7HOFM , Illawarra’s WAVE FM, River949 in south-east Queensland, Hot100, STAR1063 in Townsville, and K Rock 95.5 in Geelong, a hub for AFL coverage.

Now that September has rolled around, Macquarie Media has less than a month to finalise its required sale of 2CH.
radioinfo readers will recall that Macquarie Media got a 6-month extension on the sale process from regulator ACMA which is required because they currently own three stations in the Sydney market, which is one more than is allowed in the two to a market rule.

End of an era

It's the end of an era when the clock strikes 5 o'clock this afternoon Friday July 22nd.

For the first time in the entire history of Austereo and Southern Cross Austereo, there will no longer be a DeCean on the payroll.

Des DeCean was a founding member of the ‘Adelaide Stereo FM’ team in 1980 that established the then 5SSA FM. The company later became Austereo as it spread its wings outside of Adelaide, and the station became SAFM.
