Western Australia Premier Colin Barnett joined Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun breakfast show this morning wearing a Hawthorn guernsey after losing a bet to the Victorian Premier on the weekend.

“Run us through the bet you had ahead of the AFL Grand Final?” Nat asked.

“As you can see I am wearing a Hawthorn guernsey and I have to go down to Forrest Place today around lunch time and hand out brochures on beautiful, gracious Melbourne and why you should go there.” the Premier said.

He continued: “The one thing it has got going for it, during winter every weekend you can see the dockers or the eagles play. Melbourne was a fantastic host city, the whole town was purple literally. The hospitality, good humour on the streets, it was just terrific so well done Melbourne.”

Shaun agreed with the atmosphere in Melbourne over the Grand Final weekend saying: “That was the one thing I loved about it and being there, apart from all the things you have recognised Colin, we need that stuff here in Perth and I know over the last couple of months you have been under pressure about spending but if we don’t have that stuff, I had the realisation when I was there that this is what our future should be and we can’t get there without paying for this and making it happen.”

The Premier confirmed Shaun’s statement saying: “There had been a bit of speculation over the last week about that but I just want to say on Nova the stadium is on time, on track, no slow down, it is going ahead.”
