The phone rang for my slot in the round of interviews. I heard a cheery voice with perfect diction say, “Hi Peter, it’s Peter Charlton here with Cathy O’Connor from Nova.”
But when I ran the audio through the ‘you beaut’ transcript software, "Cathy O’Connor from Nova," came out as “Catholic O’Connor from Dover.”

Cathy O’Connor is leaving Nova and heading to oOH!media in the new year.
Cathy’s appointment follows the announcement from oOH!media founder and CEO Brendon Cook that he was stepping away from the role, though he will stay with the business until the end of 2021.

Cathy says, “Despite the challenges of 2020, the out-of-home sector is an exciting place to be in, with strong growth prospects and increasing prominence in a digital future.

At the Radio Alive conference today, Tim Burrows hosted a panel of CEOs, who tackled a number of hot topics in the radio industry in their ‘fireside chat.’

Tim’s first question was about brave moves that the CEO have made, and whether they worked or not.

Adam Lang: “Every day in talk radio requires bravery… usually things work really well, that friendship of live talk radio. But sometimes we push it too hard. 99% of our broadcast minutes we can be proud of, but there are a few we can’t.”

Nova hosted their annual Christmas lunch at Italian Restaurant, Olio Kensington Street in Chippendale, for 80 guests including Nova and smoothfm announcers, Nova Entertainment Group Executives and PD’s, media and record company representatives.
The celebration began on Olio’s exclusive Terrace with Sicilian-inspired seafood canapés with Arancini and baked parmigiana, whilst starting the day with Moet & Chandon.

Deborah Clay wins B&T Women in Media award

ARN's National  News Director Deborah Clay has been presented with this year's Women in Media Award for Journailsm.

The awards were held last night at Doltone House in Sydney.

This year saw a record number of entries for the sixth annual awards, which were hosted once again by SBS World News presenter Janice Petersen.

Nova CEO Cathy O'Connor was also named in the 'Power List' for this year as one of radio's most influential people.
