On the eve of World Radio Day, Commercial Radio Australia has just finished hosting an event at Parliament House Canberra to focus political attention on the industry’s agenda for 2020 and the vital role of local radio in the community.

Triple M breakfast presenter Lawrence Mooney and Federal Communications Minister Paul Fletcher (pictured right) addressed the event, which was attended by industry leaders, MPs and Senators.

Radio industry CEOs were in Canberra last night for their third annual cocktail event at Parliament House. 

Ben Fordham from 2GB hosted the event. Alan Jones was due to have the honour but pulled out at the last minute recovering from another major back operation.

The board of Commercial Radio Australia were there to meet with the MPs and remind them of the influence of radio. 

ABC 666 wins Canberra Radio Survey 3 2015

The results for Survey 3 Canberra radio have been released.

ABC666's Philip Clark jumped 2.2 in Breakfast for a massive 23.2 share of the shift.

FM104.7 took a 2.9 tumble to lose their previous #1 ranking to the ABC which rose 1.4 to lead the market.

ABC666 scored first place with 17.9% overall, followed by FM104.7 on 15.9%, down 2.9 share points.

Mix 106.3 was in third place, down 0.3 to 13.6%, followed by Classic FM, up 1.4 to 10%.

Radio National was in fifth place on 8.4%, down 1.3, followed by triple j on 8.3%, up 0.1.

ACMA extends digital radio trials

The Australian Communications and Media Authority is extending the current digital radio trials in Canberra and Darwin until 30 June 2016.

The trials are being conducted by Commercial Radio Australia and use DAB+ digital radio technology. Participants in the Canberra trial include The ABC and SBS with hopes that community services will join the trial soon.

Commercial Radio Australia says it looks forward to exploring how these services might become permanent as suggested in the Communications Department’s recently released Digital Radio Report.

Local school to win overnight zoo excursion with 666 ABC Canberra

One local ACT primary school class will have the opportunity to win a unique overnight stay at Taronga Zoo in Sydney with 666 ABC Canberra’s ZoosnooZ competition from next week.

The competition, hosted by Breakfast presenter Philip Clark, invites year five and six primary children to enter by writing an interesting and creative story about their favourite nocturnal animal in 500 words or less.

Canberra Survey: FM 104 takes the lead

The first Canberra survey for 2015 has been released.

FM104.7 moved into the lead, with the biggest jump of the survey, rising 1.5 share points to 18.5%. The station's Skyfire promotion (pictured) was held during this survey.

Previous market leader ABC666 dropped 2.1 share points to 15.3%, moving into second place.
