Alan Jones appeals gag order in Wagner defamation case

2GB is appealing a gag order placed on the station after Alan Jones was found to have defamed the Wagner Family.
 
In a judgment last September in Brisbane’s Supreme Court, Justice Flanagan granted a request by the Wagners to stipulate that Jones and the Macquarie Radio stations could not repeat statements defaming them.
 
2GB’s lawyers have submitted that the judge erred in granting the injunction.

The merger of Nine and Fairfax is due to complete this Friday.

Along with the merger of both companies, Nine will also end up owning Fairfax Media's 54% share of Macquarie Media.

But would Nine like to own it all? Perhaps so.

Nine has responded to media speculation today with a short media statement saying the company has "had discussions" about the remaining 46% of shares in Macquarie Media, most of which are owned by John Singleton.

A petition with over 230,000 signatures, advertiser targeting, unrelenting criticism from media sources and time to think it over has led Alan Jones to offer an apology for an interview with Opera House CEO, Louise Herron.
 
While saying that he had been “tough” on an issue that he and others thought important, he accepted that "I used some words in these programs about the Everest, and the Opera House, and Louise, which in hindsight I now most regret hearing, having heard the impact they've clearly had on some people,"
