Alan Jones sues broadcaster

In a reversal of recent events, Alan Jones is the one doing the suing this time.

Jones has launched defamation action against SBS for a broadcast on The Feed that he claims  "greatly injured" his reputation by wrongly portraying him as a racist, a misogynist and a liar.

Lawyers for Jones argued that the broadcast conveyed ten defamatory imputations about Jones, including that he "achieved his success as a broadcaster by habitually seeking to intimidate vulnerable people" and "sought to incite racial violence."

He may not have part-ownership of 2GB anymore, but it hasn’t stopped John Singleton giving his views on the latest ratings result for Nine’s Sydney flagship.
 
Singleton has told The Australian that he has five words for 2GB’s latest custodian, Nine’s Tom Malone: “Full marks for balls, Malone!”

Speaking on this week's Mi3 podcast,  Nine Radio boss Tom Malone has told the story of Alan Jones' departure from the network, soon after Nine took over 2GB.

Jones was neither jumped nor was pushed, according to Malone.

Jim Wilson’s new drive show on 2GB had everything he could have wished for yesterday, including the PM, NSW Premier, NRL boss, and even ex PM Julia Gillard.
 
The escalating COVID-19 crisis in Melbourne was the main focus of the program, giving Jim a chance to sink his teeth into one of the country’s most important stories on day one.
 
He opened his program by acknowledging the previous occupant of the chair, Ben Fordham and by thanking Mark Levy for keeping it warm in the past month.

Alan Jones signs off after 35 years behind the mic

Alan Jones has signed off from 2GB after dominating Sydney radio for over three decades.

He thanked his listeners and supposrt staff as well as station management, and above all his loyal radio family telling them “My listeners have been wonderful. The program is nothing more really than a great big family.”

Alan signed off by quoting a poem from Robert Lee Shaft, called Bag of Tools
