Jim Wilson takes the wheel for his first Drive on 2GB

Jim Wilson’s new drive show on 2GB had everything he could have wished for yesterday, including the PM, NSW Premier, NRL boss, and even ex PM Julia Gillard.
 
The escalating COVID-19 crisis in Melbourne was the main focus of the program, giving Jim a chance to sink his teeth into one of the country’s most important stories on day one.
 
He opened his program by acknowledging the previous occupant of the chair, Ben Fordham and by thanking Mark Levy for keeping it warm in the past month.

Alan Jones signs off after 35 years behind the mic

Alan Jones has signed off from 2GB after dominating Sydney radio for over three decades.

He thanked his listeners and supposrt staff as well as station management, and above all his loyal radio family telling them “My listeners have been wonderful. The program is nothing more really than a great big family.”

Alan signed off by quoting a poem from Robert Lee Shaft, called Bag of Tools

Fordham preps for breakfast at Alan's home studio during his week off

Ben Fordham, Alan Jones and Nine Radio are all working hard to ensure a smooth transition next week when Jones retires and Fordham takes over on 2GB breakfast.

Last night Fordham had dinner then stayed over at Alan Jones' country property so he could be up at the crack of dawn to see how the breakfast show works first hand.

Fordham has worked at the other end of the day for many years, but It's not the first time he has sat in on Jones' breakfast show. As a kid he did work experience on that program.

Ben Fordham farewells listeners before moving to breakfast

Ben Fordham farewelled his drive show listeners on Friday and will take a week off before replacing Alan Jones from 1 June.

After nine and a half years on the drive show, Fordham thanked a long list of people who have made his journey through radio so far possible.

“I just want to say a few thank yous before I say goodbye, because a lot of people have helped me in the nine and a half years I have been doing this shift, and a lot of people are helping me make the transition to breakfast.”

Today the ACMA announced the findings of its investigation into Jones’ breaches of decency and accuracy, coming down against Jones and the new licensee of 2GB, Nine Entertainment.
