AFL grand final goes further in radio

Crocmedia’s syndicated AFL broadcast AFL Live will again hit record audiences this year on Grand Final Day, with every state in Australia joining to take the call.

The uniquely syndicated, made for regional areas broadcast lead by Sandy Roberts, Rex Hunt, Billy Brownless and Terry Wallace, will be syndicated to nearly 100 stations across the country.

Crocmedia Executive Director Chris Giannopoulos says the Super Radio Network and Prime Talk Radio Network in Queensland will also be taking the call of the final game of the AFL season. At least 30 New South Wales and Queensland stations will take the match, expanding the game exposure into non-traditional areas.

Giannopoulos said: “To have such a large percentage of regional New South Wales and Queensland join us and share the love of AFL football on the day is fantastic. They join with most of regional Victoria, South Australia and northern Tasmania who are already take the AFL LIVE broadcast call through our partnerships with ACE Radio and the Grant Broadcasters, plus the Indigenous networks of CAAMA through the Northern Territory and remote South Australia, making for a really special day. It’s great that we are able to provide regional audiences throughout Australia  their own call of the big game.”

The AFL Live syndicated call has delivered at least six matches each weekend across regional Australia throughout the AFL 2013 season. It is Australia’s only uniquely regionally-skewed syndicated football broadcast. It will also be Sandy Roberts’ fourth consecutive grand final call on AFL Live, after decades of calling matches for the Seven Network.

While for Rex Hunt, it represents his 34th Grand Final broadcast. Hunt said: To be calling my 34th grand final alongside Sandy Roberts and the king of Geelong Billy Brownless is a huge thrill,” Hunt said. It’s fantastic that our call will be heard by so many people across the country, especially in areas where the game is trying to develop and expand in New South Wales and Queensland.”
