Kevin worked at 3KZ, 3MP, 3UZ, 3DB, Magic 1278 and 3AW as well as spending time in Monte Carlo.

Long time friend and colleague, the former CEO of Southern Cross Austereo Rhys Holleran, has told radioinfo he was a great radio person:

End of an era at 3AW

Friday marks the end of an era when John Burns co-hosts his last shift on 3AW’s top-rating breakfast program.
 
Burnso, as he is affectionately known, has sat in the studio chair alongside Ross Stevenson since 2001, and the pair are the undisputed kings of breakfast radio, having notched up 147 consecutive ratings survey wins.

 

3AW brings back regular presenters early from holidays

As the COVID-19 crisis intensifies in Melbourne, 3AW has made the decision to have all regular programs return to air next Monday, July 13, a week earlier than planned.

All programs currently on leave during the mid year holidays will return to work, while future leave plans have been temporarily suspended.

Russel Howcroft to replace John Burns on 3AW

Russel Howcroft will join the top-rating 3AW Breakfast program when John Burns retires next month.

To take up the demanding breakfast shift, Howcroft has resigned his position at PwC.

Howcroft, best known for his role as a panellist on the long-running ABC series Gruen, will team up with Ross Stevenson on 3AW Melbourne’s top rating radio show.

Neil Mitchell replaces a redundant Hamish & Andy

As part of the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, 3AW’s Neil Mitchell has once again run Neil’s Wheel, this time raising $213,000.
 
With the money, the hospital was able to buy a desperately needed tissue processing machine, and when it arrived today, Paediatric Pathologist, Colleen D’Arcy, revealed the two parts of the machine have been given names.

Where AFL matches were scheduled at the following times, these programs will now take their place:

1900-2000: Money News
2000-2400: Nights with Denis Walter
